Overview

This project aims to understand and showcase the fascination of Americans towards their flag.

A flag is more than just a flag; it’s a semiotic instrument that can mean a lot. I’d also like to acknowledge the depth of this subject and that America is vast and diverse (in every way, especially how they present the flag in society). 

This project takes no side politically nor reflects Nicola's political ideas or associations.

Outcomes

As the project grows, I plan to sell a series of authenticated fine art prints in different sizes of different subjects to allow this project to live outside of the digital realm.

Eventually, this project will be a hardcover book accompanied by an exhibition of outtakes.

Nicola Antonazzo is a Brooklyn-based documentary and portrait photographer focused on authentic and intimate moments. 

Nicola’s work has appeared online, printed in publications like The Guardian, Billboard, and The Independent, and displayed at The DeYoung Museum in San Francisco.
